Over-the-Counter (OTC) Benefit

Most MVP Medicare Advantage plans include an allowance you can use for medicine and health-related items that you don’t need a prescription to buy.

Use the Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card from our partner NationsBenefits® to buy eligible items online, in the app, or at select stores. Participating retail locations include CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart. Sales tax may apply to some items.

Please note: This is not a credit card, and it cannot be used at an ATM or to receive cash back or to buy prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or gift cards. The card comes pre-loaded with the benefit allowance, but it must be activated before use.

Eligible items include:

  • Allergy and cold/flu medicine 
  • Aspirin or pain relievers
  • Band Aids® or first aid products
  • Incontinence products
  • Prebiotics, probiotics, and acid reducers
  • Vitamins and supplements

Your OTC allowance is a quarterly benefit. Use it by the end of March, June, September, and December so you don't lose it!

Frequently Asked Questions about Your Benefit

  • How do I activate the card?

    Members can activate their card in one of the following ways:

    1. Call 1-855-996-4327 (TTY 711)
    2. Log in to their personalized Benefits Pro Portal at MVP.NationsBenefits.com/Activate
    3. Scan the QR code provided on the materials that arrived with the new card.

  • How do I check my balance?

    The card balance is available account at MVP.NationsBenefits.com, in the Benefits Pro App, or by calling NationsBenefits at 1-855-996-4327 (TTY 711). A member of the Care Team can also help members check the balance.

  • What is NOT eligible?

    The following items are NOT eligible for purchase using these benefits: prescription drugs, food, tobacco, gift cards, and firearms.

The Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card, is issued by The Bancorp Bank, N.A., Member FDIC, pursuant to license by Mastercard International Incorporated.
