Over-the-Counter (OTC) Benefit

Most MVP Medicare Advantage plans include an allowance you can use for medicine and health-related items that you don’t need a prescription to buy.

Use the Benefits Mastercard® Prepaid Card from our partner NationsBenefits® to buy eligible items online, in the app, or at select stores. Participating retail locations include CVS Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Walmart. Sales tax may apply to some items.

Please note: This is not a credit card, and it cannot be used at an ATM or to receive cash back or to buy prescription drugs, alcohol, tobacco, firearms, or gift cards. The card comes pre-loaded with the benefit allowance, but it must be activated before use.

Eligible items include:

• Allergy and cold/flu medicine 
• Aspirin or pain relievers
• Band Aids® or first aid products
• Incontinence products
• Prebiotics, probiotics, and acid reducers
• Vitamins and supplements

Your OTC allowance is a quarterly benefit. Use it by the end of March, June, September, and December so you don't lose it!

MVP Health Plan, Inc. is an HMO-POS/PPO/HMO D-SNP organization with a Medicare contract and a contract with the New York State Medicaid program. Gia virtual care services are available at no member cost-share for medical plans, including qualified high-deductible health plans (QHDHPs). Exceptions may apply for self-funded plans. In-person visits and referrals are subject to cost-share per plan. Members enrolled in a Medicare Rx plan without additional MVP medical coverage do not have access to MVP virtual care services through Gia.
