Make a strong flu vaccine recommendation at every visit.

It is important that all Members receive a strong recommendation for flu vaccination from their Provider. Most know that the flu vaccine is important, but they need a reminder from you to get vaccinated. Use the SHARE method to make a strong recommendation and provide important information to help Members make informed decisions about vaccinations:

SHARE the reasons why a flu vaccine is right for the Member given their age, health status, or other risk factors.

HIGHLIGHT  positive experiences with flu vaccines to reinforce the benefits and strengthen confidence in flu vaccination.

ADDRESS Member questions and any concerns about flu vaccines, including side effects, safety, and vaccine effectiveness in plain and understandable language.

REMIND Members that flu vaccines help protect them and their loved ones from serious illness and complications that can result in hospitalization or even death for some people.

EXPLAIN the potential costs of getting the flu like serious health effects, time lost, financial costs, and spreading the flu to more vulnerable family or friends.

If your office is not administering flu vaccines, Members can visit vaccines.gov to find a flu vaccine location nearest them.
